TLDR: The process for deleting your data with Thirdfort depends on your verification stage. Before or during the check, contact the referring organisation to delete your data. After completion, use the app’s ‘delete my data’ button to remove data from Thirdfort and partners, though the requesting organisation retains the report. Ongoing monitoring may prevent immediate deletion; contact the organisation if needed.
Deleting your data
The process for deleting your data varies depending on whether you have started or completed your Thirdfort verification.
Before your check
If you have been referred to complete a Thirdfort check but do not wish to be verified using Thirdfort, please contact the organisation that referred you to us.
They can close and delete your verification check from our system and advise on alternative methods of verification instead of using the Thirdfort app.
During your check
During your check, data is stored locally on your device and passed to Thirdfort and a short list of trusted third parties as you complete your tasks to be processed. Your data cannot be deleted from within the app whilst your verification check is incomplete. There is an in-app option that can be found by selecting settings, however this will only work for completed verification checks.
If you wish to delete your data at this stage, contact the organisation that set up your verification check.
After completing your check
Once your check is complete, you can use the ‘delete my data’ button within the app to delete your data stored by Thirdfort and by any partners that were used to carry out the verification check. Your information will be deleted instantly from the Thirdfort app and generally by our partners within 30 days, in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
Your completed verification report and the data contained on it will still be available to view by the organisation that requested it. If you wish for this to be deleted, please contact the organisation that requested your check.
Ongoing Monitoring
Depending on the nature of your transaction, and if this is still ongoing, the organisation requesting your Thirdfort check may enable ongoing monitoring to alert them to any changes in the details you have submitted over time.
If they have chosen to enable this, you will be notified when you attempt to delete your data and may see a message notifying you that your data cannot be deleted right now. Should you wish to delete your data whilst seeing this message, please contact the organisation that requested your check. You can read more about what ongoing monitoring is here.
