TLDR: The final stage of the passport check is a face scan to verify the passport holder's identity. The scan uses the front camera on your device. Align your face within an on-screen oval, and follow distance instructions. The scan starts automatically, with the screen changing colour during the process.
Scanning your face
The final stage of the passport check is to complete a face scan. This allows us to verify the passport belongs to the person completing the face scan.
To complete the task, press 'Next' and then 'Start scan'. The camera on the front of your device will then open.
You will see an oval appear on screen to align your face with, and some instructions on how close to be to the phone. When you are in the right position, the scan will automatically start.
When the scan is in progress, the screen will show a series of different colours. This is a normal part of the scan.
Once the scan is finished, you will have the option to return to your task list and complete any other tasks.
