Why do I need to provide Proof of Ownership documents?
HM Land Registry has recently outlined a new digital identity standard. Part of the standard involves providing two proof of ownership documents - these come directly from the government website and your solicitor must obtain two documents to meet the standard.
How to complete the Proof of Ownership task
Step 1:
To get started select to 'Start' the task from your to-do list. You will then be given a brief introduction to the task, when you are ready to begin please press 'Continue.'
Step 2:
To complete the Proof of Ownership task this requires two documents to be evidenced. To get started please select 'Choose a document' for either document 1 or 2.
Once you have selected to 'Choose a document' you will be given a list of supported documents that can be uploaded. When you are ready to begin select the type of document you would like to upload.
Step 3:
Once you have selected the type of document you can then choose to upload either a photo of the document, or a PDF file. If you choose to upload a photo this can either be a photo you have already taken or you can take a new photo through the app.
If you select to add the document as a photo you will see a screen asking you to 'Add page' selecting this will then allow you to choose which photo to upload.
Once a photo is added if you wish to remove it press the red X. When you have uploaded all the photos or files for this document please press 'Done.'
Step 4:
Once you have uploaded your first document you will then be able to repeat the process to upload the second document evidencing your Proof of Ownership.
Once both documents are uploaded if you need to amend a document please click on it. Once you are ready to continue please select 'Submit Documents.'
Step 5:
When you select to submit your documents you will be asked to confirm you want to 'Submit Documents.' Once you choose to submit these documents you cannot then upload other documents or change the documents uploaded.
Once you submit your documents this will complete the task, you will then be returned to your to-do list to complete any remaining task.
