Why am I required to provide bank statements?
As part of your verification, the organisation that requested your Thirdfort check may ask you to provide bank statements. The quickest, easiest and most secure way to do this, is by connecting to your bank using Open Banking technology. You can read more about Open Banking technology here.
By law, when dealing with large amounts of money, solicitors and law firms are legally obliged to investigate where the funds originate from. This helps prevent fraud and money laundering. You can read more on why professionals require statements here.
What information is provided if I connect to my bank?
If you chose to connect to your bank via Open Banking technology, the app will redirect to your online banking portal where you will be asked to log in. This authentication process is controlled by your bank - Thirdfort does not see or store any of your credentials.
Once logged in, you can select the account you wish to connect to. Once selected, your bank will generate a read-only statement and utilise Open Banking technology to redirect you back to our app, where Thirdfort receives the statement to attach to your ID report. The read-only summary statement contains 6 months of full transaction statements, alongside the top 20 in-going and outgoing transactions over the 12-month period.
If required, you can link multiple accounts to evidence your funds. If you are unsure which accounts you need to submit, please contact the organisation that referred you to Thirdfort and they can advise on this directly.
