Why am I being asked to provide bank statements?
As part of your verification, the organisation that requested your Thirdfort check may ask you to provide bank statements. You can do this by linking your bank or uploading your statements as photos or digital files (PDFs). By law, when dealing with large amounts of money, solicitors and law firms have to understand where that money originates from. This helps stop fraud and prevents money laundering. You can read more about why you need to supply statements here.
What accounts should I use and which statements should I provide?
The organisation that requested your check will likely want to see the bank account where the majority of your funds are held. This allows the organisation to see:
-
How your money has accumulated over time.
-
To track your salary income.
-
To assess your statements to ensure that your money is legitimate.
For specific advice on which statements to upload or which bank account to link, please contact the organisation that requested your Thirdfort check. They will be able to advise you what documentation they wish to see in order to satisfy their individual compliance regulations.
